Venture Café Foundation operates the following spaces, programs and conversations in the greater Boston:

Innovation Spaces

  • District Hall – The world’s first civic innovation center in Boston’s Innovation District where the innovation community can gather and exchange ideas.
  • Venture Café Cambridge Thursday Nights – A weekly gathering for the innovation community held on Thursday evenings at the 5th Floor of CIC Cambridge.

Innovation Economy Programs

  • Innovation Visitors Bureau – Connects innovation players worldwide to the Massachusetts ecosystem by organizing visits to innovation-related institutions.
  • Captains of Innovation Program – Helps large companies envision the future of their industry and connect with Greater Boston’s startups to achieve that vision.
  • Innovation Economy Activation Programs – Programs to leverage innovation (technology and non-technology based) as a catalyst for economic development.


  • Innovation and the City – Gathers practitioners to evaluate & deploy these strategies with an integrative & critical perspective.
  • Civic Technology Salon Series – Conversation on the needs & use of technology to increase civic services and community well being. Organized w/ Microsoft

Venture Café Foundation is incorporated as a Massachusetts Not-for-Profit Corporation and has attained 501 (c) 3 nonprofit status.

The Venture Café Foundation was started by CIC Cambridge as an innovation community gathering on Thursday nights.  The Foundation has since become a separate nonprofit entity.  CIC remains the Founding Partner of the Foundation and one of our largest Sponsors.

Venture Café is expanding to become a global movement with Cafés now operating in:

  • St. Louis, MO.  United States
  • Rotterdam, The Netherlands
  • Miami, Fla. United States
